“From the Classical to the Romantic”

Sat 28 January 2012 - 7.30pm

Bedford Corn Exchange

Conductor Michael Rose

Soloist Jaroslaw Nadrzycki

Mozart Symphony No. 32, K318

Beethoven Violin Concerto

Brahms Serenade No. 1

Good news! Jaroslaw Nadrzycki is in town again, this time with Beethoven. Not until the legendary violinist Joseph Joachim played Beethoven’s violin concerto in London, some time after the composer’s death, was its greatness realised. We, however, will have no difficulty appreciating its magnificence tonight since it is in safe hands with Jaroslaw. The Mozart symphony is short and charming, and Brahms’ First Serenade - one of his first ventures into orchestral composition, and which escaped his own dustbin (he was his own most severe critic) - is definitely worth hearing.
